Our Story
Schaefer Mechanical Services Inc. was founded in 1995 by Steve Schaefer, a master plumber with a vision to deliver exceptional plumbing services to the Maryland construction market.
In 2024, the company was acquired by Troy Beane and VXL, ushering in a new era of growth and modernization while preserving the craftsmanship and dedication that built our reputation.
Today, we continue to serve the commercial and residential new construction and rehabilitation marketplace with the same commitment to quality that has defined us for nearly three decades.

Troy Beane is a combat-proven leader turned entrepreneur with over two decades of military service across the U.S. Air Force, Army Infantry, and Pennsylvania National Guard, retiring as a Major.
He led global infrastructure and combat-ready teams at home and abroad in Germany, Hawaii, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq—executing mission-critical operations where accountability, performance and success were non-negotiable.
In 2022, Troy founded Veteran Executive Leadership (VXL) — a platform built to help veterans build generational wealth through business ownership, leadership development, and skilled-trade excellence.
Today, under his leadership, companies like Schaefer Mechanical Services operate with disciplined execution, operational rigor, and an enthusiastic mission-driven culture.
